Churches in Nature visit 2021

Date: 7th Jun 2021 @ 3:58pm

Today, we had the opportunity to visit the Ecclesall All Saints Church grounds and graveyard to think about the nature we find in our local environment. The churchyard has over 200 species of plants and animals. Rev Mark Brown showed us areas where they were growing wild flowers to look after the bees, and an labyrinth area, creathed for people to find calm and help them focus for quiet time or prayer. We found buttercups and forget-me-nots, as well as an abundance of daisies, and different grasses / mosses.

Rosie helped up with some resources from A Rocha and the Eco Churches programme. We went on a mini beast hunt, and learnt to find out how old a tree was by hugging it!

We even measured some leaves in cm, and counted the number of bugs with a tally chart.

Our RE this term is all about God's wonderful creation, so what a wonderful start we've made!
