Give a Little Love

This week we have been looking at similes. A simile is when two things are compared by using as or like.  We started the week by watching the Christmas advert by John Lewis.  First we talked about what the advert was about, which we decided was,  when someone recieves an act of kindness they then pass on that kindness on by also doing an act of kindness.  We discussed how the advert showed this through a heart being passed on and how the different characters felt.

Then we took a scene from the advert which we used to write some similes.  The scene was of a busy street of snowpeople.  First we wrote down as many nouns as we could find.  Then we wrote down adjectives, verbs and adverbs which we could use with the nouns.  We thought of some really good ones such as, strolling, magical, joyful and colourful.  Next we composed our similes.  Here are just a few of them:

"The glistening, white snow dazzled like glittering diamonds in the moonlight."

"The shining snow was gleaming as bright as a shimmering star."

"The christmas tree lights were as bright as the glimmering sun."

"The wintery snow twinkled like shiny stars."

"The roaring thunder was as clear as a group of chuckling, chatting snowmen."

"The light shimmered as brightly as shining, sparkly pearls in the moonlight."

"The glimmering snow crunched as loud as a lions roar."
