Great Fire of London Cakes

Today we baked some 17th Century cakes using this (if you want to replicate at home), we used raspberry juice instead of sherry.

The recipe we used -

Each pair will need (makes approx 6 cakes):

150g flour (Thomas Farriner wouldn't have used a raising agent so we used plain)

75g sugar

150g currants

75g butter

1 egg yolk

pinch of nutmeg

1 table spoon of milk

1 table spoon of raspberry juice
