Happy Hanukkah!

Duck class celebrated Hanukkah this week, the Jewish festival of light. We learnt about the Maccabees and how they lit an oil lamp that miraculously stayed alight for eight days. The children found out about how Jewish people celebrate Hanukkah through stories and videos. We then made our own menorahs, some children made them using Purple Mash and some children made a paper plate menorah. The children enjoyed making a Star of David out of lollypop sticks in the creative area. We compared Hanukkah to the Hindu festival of light, Diwali, which we learnt about earlier this half term.
