Rosie's Walk

Date: 25th Nov 2020 @ 9:50am

Last week we were learning to use positional language in maths. We read a fantastic story 'Rosie's Walk' by Pat Hutchins which follows Rosie the hen on her walk around the farm. Little does she know she's being pursued by a sneaky fox! Outside, the children had to complete a Rosie's Walk obstacle course. The children worked in partners, one as Rosie and one as the fox. They had to take it in turns giving their partner instructions on how to complete the obstacle course. We started by going past the mill, then under the beehives, across the yard, over the haystacks, around the pond and finally through the gate. The children gave great instructions using the positional language they had learned and everyone completed the obstacle course! The children then went inside and created their own maps of where Rosie went on her walk. They made some fantastic maps!
