World Book Day

Date: 4th Mar 2022 @ 12:54pm

Duck class had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day yesterday! We started with the book swap where all the children enjoyed choosing a new book to take home with them. We then read The Days the Crayons Quit. We discussed the story and made a tally chart to find out what our favourite colour crayon was. Blue was the winner! During our continuous provision, children shared books that they'd bought from home and it was lovely to see so many children excited about reading. In the afternoon, we had a carousel of activities. We started with Mrs Hamblin, who read Rainbow Fish to us. We found out that Rainbow Fish wasn't feeling very well and so we had to give Rainbow Fish his beautiful, shiny scales back. The children made some great collages. Then Miss Akhtar came to visit us and read Winnie the Witch to us. We made some beautiful chalk witches on black card. Finally, Ms Leightell came to visit and read I Want My Hat Back. We made our own hats, although hopefully we won't lose them like Bear does! Thank you everyone for the effort you put into costumes, for taking photos of the children's adventurous reading and for bringing books to share - we had a super day!
