Y1's chromatography butterflies

We had a day of science in Y1, where we were thinking about our big question.... 'Is there ONLY black powder mixed with water in black ink?'  We used filter paper, felt-tipped pens and water to find out which colours black ink is made up of, and then we experimented with a variety of colours. Afterwards we looked at the results and thought about which colours and pens gave us the best results. What an interesting day!
