Y5 Science experiments

Date: 21st Sep 2022 @ 3:33pm

It's great to be back at Clifford, and welcome to all the new Y5's! This half term in our science lessons we are thinking about properties of materials. Last week we did an experiment to determine whether a snowman will melt faster with or without a coat. Today we investigated whether different materials will dissolve in warm water. We made predictions, and later we made conclusions. Most of us guessed that salt, sugar and instant coffee would dissolve, some of us weren't sure if flour or chalk would dissolve, and we were undecided about rice and sand. We were a bit surprised that the gravy granules didn't dissolve - why do you think they were insoluble?
