Y6 science - developing a classification key and testing out its flaws

We couldn't believe it this afternoon when Miss Gold asked us to create a classification key... for Haribos! Each pair had a bowl of Haribos and had to work out a classification key to sort them. Some looked at colour first, others looked at the shape, but the most important thing was that the questions we asked were dichotomous - so the answer was a definite 'Yes' or 'No'. It wasn't as easy as it sounded! Once we had written all our questions, we swapped pairs so that we could test each others key. We discovered a few flaws but overall we did a great job. The hardest part was not eating any of them!
