Y6 thinking BIG with angles in maths

Date: 7th Feb 2022 @ 3:31pm

Y6 were thinking BIG today! We created some angles on our tables using lines of masking tape which intersected with each other, and then we had a go at measuring them. At first it was a bit confusing, but once we had got the hang of it, and thought about the angle we were measuring (is it acute or obtuse?) it became easier. Once we had created a network of lines, more triangles and quadrilaterals emerged. Then we started to notice patterns... the straight lines' angles add up to 180, and the triangles' angles totalled 180 too. We also noticed that opposite angles are the same, and that the angles within a quadrilateral add up to 360.
