D & T in Y4 -making waterwheels

This afternoon, following on from our work about Sheffield's history and looking into industry and water wheels, we made our own functioning water wheels! We used plastic plates to make the wheel, plastic cups attached with electical tape for the mini buckets, and threaded a wooden dowelling rod through to rotate the wheel. Once we had assigned tasks, designed a logo, and put our wheels together, we tested them outside. They were fabulous and functional!  Afterwards, we thought about how well our testing went, and what we could have done better. What a group of engineers we are!
