Japanese art in Y4

Date: 16th Sep 2020 @ 12:40pm

It's wonderful to be back in Y4! We are having a great time, and are getting used to our new school life. We have started reading Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo, which tells the tale of a boy called Michael, who was on a boat... and was washed up on a desert island in the Pacific Ocean. It features illustrations in the style of Japanese artist Hokasai, which inspired us to create our own class version of his famous painting 'The Last Wave', as well as individual sketches, and watercolours.

It has also inspired us to imagine and create a ship-wrecked person, and the island on which they live. We then wrote a story telling the tale of how this disaster occurred. We've also found time for plenty of maths, enjoying the sunshine, and dancing with Lizzy. It's great to be back at Clifford!
