Our trip to see The Halle Orchestra

We had an absolutely amazing morning in The Oval Hall of Sheffield City Hall watching the Halle Orchestra. The theme was  Conflict and Resolution so we were treated to a variety of pieces of music which varied from calm and peaceful to enormously rousing and loud! There was a cello concerto by Elgar, The Ride of the Valkyries by Wagner, Mars from The Planets by Holst, but the highlight for many of us was The Imperial March from the Star Wars film The Emporer Strikes Back by John Williams! We joined in with some World War I songs, and the finale was the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky, which we joined in by making the sounds of the cannons and by cheering. It was a wonderful and unique experience.
