The MaKEY Project!

A few weeks ago, I attended a course run by the University of Sheffield. The aim of the course is to encourage children to become involved in Science, Maths, Engineering and Technology activities. It is called the MakEY Project. The Project encourages different settings to set up "Maker Spaces" so that children have opportunities to 'tinker' and experiment with equipment. 

We started the project in Reception by asking the children to have a go at making electrical circuits. We used LED lights to made 'light-up' light houses and fish with 'light-up' eyes! We were given some amazing resources to use. It was quite a challenge to make the lights work but we had a lot of fun experimenting!
