Y3's trip to Sheffield Manor Lodge

Date: 9th Nov 2023 @ 3:44pm

We had yet ANOTHER amazing day today, on our visit to Sheffield Manor Lodge. First we created a time-line, using people and hats, from present day all the way back to the Stone Age. We then realised that if we were in the Stone Age we wouldn't have a packed lunch, and would have to go hunting. We created spears and set off, looking for animal prints. We decided the bear would be too dangerous, and picked the deer hooves. Once we found the poor deer, we threw our spears, and then shot arrows at it! Now that we had organised our next meal, we went to build shelters in the woods. Wearing animal skins, we selected branches, tied them together, and draped more animal skins over them. We then followed a historical trail, where we uncovered lots of fascinating facts, and went back indoors for our lunch. After lunch we created some cave paintings.... IN THE DARK!! It was so difficult to see what we had created, but we were pleasantly surprised when the lights came back on. Finally, we went back outside and built Stonehenge! Not an easy task! Thank you to Hannah at Manor Lodge for all her hard work and enthusiam - we loved our day but decided living in Stone Age times was very tough!
